Happy Diwali . . . . . . . . . .nearly

Good morning Duckadees. Wednesday greetings and felicitations to you all.

Thank you for your lovely comments on my improvised snowflake mask. I also need to give an honourable mention to Mr Duck. After "Mapgate" he redeemed himself (slightly) by paying for the postage on the cards sent for Millie-Rose. He thinks that's him off the hook now. . . . . .silly boy!

Wasn't John and Wendy's first video great?(see here). Don't know that I would have the doodahs to do that, so many claps and whoops to them.

Now, today's theme is Diwali as it's not far off now (3rd November this year I believe). These cards are actually ones I made for Nesta and her family last year, not long after I discovered the crafting drug known as Spellbinders. I am in the throws of designing this years cards so thought I would show you what I did last year. The new ones will appear in due course.

The card above was Nesta's.

This is the SB Fancy Lattice (reminded me of Jali fretwork) cut out of gold mirror card and mounted on foam pads to a teal card layer. This was then matted onto an A5 black card base.

I then cut one of the SB Decorative Labels Eight from black card. On this, I hand drew the outline of Lord Ganesh, incorporating the Om symbol which is of religious significance to Hindu's. I went over this with a glue pen, then gilded with Indigo Blu Royal Peacock flakes.

I then added the hand written (and doesn't it show lol!!!) sentiment, trying to make it look like Indian writing. Popped this onto the card and voila!!!

Nesta loved it thankfully. Will see what I can come up with this year.

The cards below, I made for Nesta's Dad and sister/brother in law. They both display Om symbols that I have gilded, on layered SB dies (Elegant Labels One and Decorative Labels Twenty Seven if memory serves me correctly)

We usually go over to Leicester's Belgrave Road on Diwali each year (John, the invites there for you and/or OH if you're in the area) weather permitting. We get there in the afternoon, do a bit of shopping, have a fabulous meal, more shopping then watch the fireworks in the park and then head home. Hopefully, the weather this year will be as mild as last year come the day.

Something different, I know, but that's the beauty of being able to celebrate different festivals with friends of different cultures. It's also a great excuse to enjoy fab food and fireworks but don't tell Nesta lol !!!
