Hello dear chums.
Just a brief update, as I am now smothered in spotty blister things, its the dreaded Chicken Pox. Managed to avoid it all these years too!
Luckily, Mr D has already had it and has a couple of days off, I'm trying to rest and not scratch. I woke up with more spots and a swollen knee this morning so I don't know if that's related.
Mr D out with shopping list, which includes calomine. . . . . . .and to think I was worried about Nesta's castanets!
I have a post that was already scheduled for Thursday but other than that, I'll be quiet for a while (don't all cheer hahaha!)
Thank you for your kind words and wishes.
Take care and be good.
Yours, itchily
Ang x
Oh Ducky,
ReplyDeleteI feel for you. Funny thing is that although I have not had chicken pox, I have had shingles!!! Now it's possible that I had chicken pox when I was too young to remember (before the age of 5) but there's no one alive I can ask, other than my brother and he wouldn't have a clue.
Take care, don't scratch (easy for me to say) and keep on slapping the calomine on. Keep out of the water and take it easy.
Lots of love Maureen xxx
Ohhh Noooo :( Piriton helps with the itch too!!! Hope you feel better soon, Love Hazelxxx
ReplyDeleteAfternoon Ang, oh dear poor you. It must be awful have itchy spots when the weather is warm. I had chicken pox as a child and can remember my mum kept on telling me not to scratch !!!. Hope you recover soon - watch out that your hubby doesn't get shingles - as I believe if you've had chicken pox you can then catch shingles easily. Wish you a speedy recover. Janice xx

Hi Ang,
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing you must feel wretched. I had it when I was young but don't remember it at all.
It's easy to say don't scratch but it's so difficult to stop yourself. Pile on the calamine.

I can't believe you have the chicken pox, what's up with that!! We are about the same age and I have never had the chicken pox before either, kind of makes me weary of visiting my friends with little ones! EEKS! Best wishes for a speedy recovery my dear, I'm scratching just thinking of you, haha!! healing hugs my friend :)
ReplyDeleteHugs to ya again Ang.xxxx
ReplyDeleteOh no Mrs D but at least you now know why you felt so rubbish!!! You can buy something called Lacto Calamine which is a thickish cream and doesn't dry out like the original calamine but whatever you are slapping on I hope it takes away the itching - you could also take some anti-histamine which should help too - I have now taken my Florence Nightingale hat off and hope you start to feel better very soon xx take care xx GailT xx
ReplyDeleteHi Ang, I am so sorry for you,Chicken Pox are not nice even gotten as a child, so please look after yourself as it can re crop. As Gail said the cream is better as it stays where you put it. Also if you tip a good tablespoon of bicarbonate into bath water with no soap it soothes the skin while you sleep. I hope you feel well again very soon. X Ros
ReplyDeleteOh Mrs Duck, how awful. Just don't scratch!!! Thinking of you and hope you get over it soon. Thankfully I had it as a child and I believe you cannot get it twice! Take care, Michelle x
ReplyDeleteSo you're going to be a pink Duck now, hopefully the lotion will take the heat out of the spots. Just keep resting, hugs Kate x
ReplyDeleteOh, poor you. No wonder you didn't feel well. Like some others have said, Piriton to stop the itching.
ReplyDeleteTake care
Hugs (but from a distance, I ain't getting too close)

ReplyDeleteOh my! So sorry about the chicken pox. Do be careful with Mr. D. Shingles are a very miserable after effect of having chicken pox. Try to rest up and we'll see you back here when you are well! Hugs and get well wishes!
ReplyDeleteOh dear !!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you have Chicken Pox..... but lucky for you ... you did not get shingles. This is meant to be real bad when your not a kid x

How awful!! I hope you get better soon!
ReplyDeleteHow awful!! I hope you get better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, for crying out loud, Ang, that's just wrong! I googled this and it turns out that you will go down in the record books as the first DUCK to come down with CHICKEN pox. Usually the pox only spreads from chicken to chicken and (unfortunately because of LeRoy and that nasty business back in 1782) to humans, but not to ducks. You need to rest and use the calamine lotion and let your man duck tend to you wing and foot AND, now listen, this is important, you need to eat nothing but CHICKEN soup for an 18-hour period on the sixth day. Okay? Okay. You're welcome. No, no need to hug me. I'll just wave from here and blow kisses! Hang in there, lovey! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteHello Ang, that is really terrible, hope the spots are settling down with the lotion. Be careful of shingles as that can be very painful. Take care of yourself. Bx
ReplyDeleteOh Nooooooo, ruffle me feathers this is just awful to hear, no wonder you felt so poorly, lots of good advice from up above Ang, so do as you are told , and just you take it easy " do you hear " ?
ReplyDeleteElaine H X
Hi Ang. How awful for you. Chicken Pox isn't good at any age. Lots of Calamine, lots of drinks and sloppy mashed up food if you get them in your throat and mouth is about all the advice I can give you, oh, and wear cotton gloves at night to help stop you scratching. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care xx
ReplyDeleteOh you pooor, poooooor Mrs Duck, my kids gave me mine when I was about 25 - I have never felt so ill until I got a kidney stone! I had spots in places I'd forgotten I had. Why do they come up in ears, between toes and in the most uncomfortable places? Rest as much as you can, sleep if possible, because you don't itch so much in sleep. and I hope it will be over soon.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read this Ang no wonder you haven't felt like swimming in the pond. Just ruffle your feathers and try not scratch. Thinking of you Love from Jackie xx
ReplyDeleteHello again Ang,
ReplyDeleteI know you'll still be feeling lousy, but I hope you soon turn the corner.
Love Maureen xx
Oh my, so very sad to hear you are down with chicken pox, of all things! Nasty buggers, aren't they? Calomine is good stuff. So is a tepid bath with baking soda. Just be careful not to soak the scabs off. Scars, you know.
ReplyDeleteThinking good thoughts for you. You can tell us all about it when you feel better!
Oh Ang I am so sorry and hope it is all over soon. I know you must be very uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
Oh No Ang, no wonder you've been feeling rough. I had them when I was 30 and spent 3 days in bed I felt so ill. It's not just the itching but the flu like sypmtoms that go along with them when you catch them later in life and they say it's far worse when you get them as an adult than if you get them as a child. Hopefully now the spots have come out you will start to feel better. Hope the itching doesn't drive you up the wall. You have my upmost sympathy & good wishes.
ReplyDeleteBless you - Deb C xx
Me again!!
ReplyDeleteStill thinking of you and hope the itching is lessening now.
Love Maureen xx
Just thought I'd add an extra comment to wish you a very happy birthday today despite all you are going through. Love from Jackie xx
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better really soon!! Hugs!
