Good morning my little Duckadees. As I'm typing this, its certainly weather for ducks!!!
Firstly, a warm welcome and thank you to Jenny (Cardsarus blog) who has so kindly become my 14th follower. I am superstitious so being on 13 was bothering me.
Thank you, also, to everyone for being so sympathetic about my tooth. The cracked inlay has been removed and a temp one installed. Back to the dentist Weds for impressions (hold fire with the Rory Bremner jokes!!!) then the following week for the new inlay. . . . . when will the fun ever end eh???
Now, another warm welcome to the beautifulness that is SB Majestic Labels 25. It is now my favourite set . . . . . . . love it, love it, love it!!!
I took the plunge and ordered the bundle with four of the new die sets launched in Vegas on C&C. About 36 hours from order to my door. . . . . .impressive. I have only managed this one play as I've been busy but hopefully will get some play with the other sets too over the coming days. This particular set, though, is stunning. In my excitement, I forgot to take a pic of it open as it is a tent card (think that's the right term) and the reason I used an A3 piece of card to start (the largest die does not cut around its edge, it just embosses the edge, cuts out the middle and the filigree bits, if that makes sense)
I cut an piece of teal A3 card to a size of 16.5cm x 33cm and Hougied it in half so it was a 16.5 x 16.5 square. I then cut one of the SB Bracket Borders out of each side of the front of the card and just the plain cut edge to cut the back page edges.
I then cut the largest of the SB Majestic Labels 25 from the middle of the front page and also the middle die of the set from the centre of this. The middle die just cuts the pattern out this way rather than cutting a whole piece out.
I ran the portion that then cut out, through my GC with a Forever Friends embossing folder. I then stuck a white card background on the inside of the front page and then foam padded the embossed layer onto this.
I cut the 2nd smallest die from the same set in white card, stamped the sentiment with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and inked around the edges too and foam padded on top of the embossed layer. To neaten things, I rounded the corners with my scissors and. . . . . . . voila !!!
I had just finished it half way through the last C&C Spellbinders show, so I emailed a pic in and they showed it on air. I was so chuffed as John Bloodworth said it was better than the ones he had made and did I want to come on the show and demo LOL!!! I'm sure he was being polite but I still felt my feathers bristling with pride.
I did um and ah about the set as I wasn't sure about the circle set but it is actually lovely so I'm very happy with all four sets but this set is amazing.
Hope you like my first make from the set. It was done quite quickly in eagerness to play so hopefully I can come up with some better ones as I play more.
Have a great day folks. Hungarian GP this afternoon so I'm a happy Duck !!!

ReplyDeleteWell this Duck has plenty of water to puddle in. Have to take the dog for his walk and I keep thinking the rain might stop coming down like stair rods long enough for us to get out.
Your card is beautiful, loving the colour, have fun playing with your new toys. Look forward to seeing all these beautiful cards you will make with them.

ReplyDeleteHi Ang, you have had an eventful few days whilst I've been at my mums. Hope your teeth are ok over this weekend, a few days can seem a lifetime when you have teeth troubles. The good thing about being busy at mum's was I didn't see any of the Vegas shows so I haven't been tempted to buy anything but I'm sorry I didn't see your card featured on TV as I love what you have done though like Gail I'm not enamoured about the bracket dies. Have a good day, Hamilton to win?? best wishes Jackie
ReplyDeleteOh wow-amazing card & lovely colours. I am so jealous of you getting the new dies, I didn't manage to see any shows on C&C but thats probably safer!!

Absolutely fantastic card, I love it.
ReplyDeleteThe combination of Dies you have used is brilliant. I resisted any temptation for Dies. I can hardly lift the boxes of them that I have.
Sorry I missed your moment on the telly.
Not surprised you are as proud as a "peacock" oh! sorry a "duck"
We don`t have anything like "recorders" up here (I would not be able to work it anyway) so cant even say I will look out for it.
Have a wonderful paddle in the pond
Hugs
