Good morning my little Duckadees. Hope you are all being good in your respective bits of blogland.
This is my 50th post today. It seems a long time since my first attempt but thank you all for joining me and sticking with me along the way. Hope a few more folk may like to become followers as I'm still a bit short of my 4000 for the blog candy hahaha!!!
Thanks again for your kind best wishes. I'm still not 100% but getting there. So sorry if I came across as miserable. Bit of an auto immune thing going on so if there is something going around, guaranteed I will catch it and take ages to get shot of it (hence the tummy bug I have picked up now too but I won't dwell on that one!!!). Could be worse but sorry again if my posts were laden with misery . . . . . . .lets face it, you don't come on here to feel down!
Sadly, that was not a Gelli Plate in my pile of goodies; it was a pack of clear stamps that cost £1. How are you getting on with yours Val? Yes, there were some turquoisy glitters and also a black and gold pack too.
Before I forget, I made a comment on Patricia's blog extolling the virtues of organza ribbon from Sanctuary Beads. I checked their website afterwards, only to find that they only have two colours currently in stock (red and green if you are still in Christmas mode). I emailed them to find out when they are re-stocking and sadly, they have said it won't be for a while. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up. I'm just glad I got a job lot when I did.
Well, not like me to cause a consternation with my last card lol. Do you know what? I am so pleased that everyone feels they can be honest with me about what they don't like about my cards. I really don't mind if folk say they are not keen. Its refreshing and wonderful that you all say what you think!
Now, on to today's card. I was trying to use up some bits (following Patricia's lead).
The base card is an A4 piece of white hammered card, Hougied in half. I also cut a slightly smaller mat out of white card.
I then cut three of the middle die of SB Elegant Labels Four, two out of green card and one out of yellow card. Also, I cut the curved square shape from the SB Botanical Swirls and Accents set from some yellow card. I ran each of the EL4 die cuts though the GC with a Forever Friends embossing folder.
As these were too long to fit on the card, I cut them in half and trimmed a bit of each half until they fitted how I wanted. I then foam padded them on to the mat and put a strip of yellow card across the joins.
I then added a piece of Creative Expressions Crochet Ribbon across this. The ribbon was originally white but I inked it with Mustard Seed and Shabby Shutters Distress inks to tone it down (me tone it down? Whoda thought it eh lol!!!) I'm not sure that I succeeded in what I was after as the colour of the crochet now seems to resemble a piece of Steptoe Snr's vest!!! (if any of you are old enough to remember Steptoe and Son. . . . . .I, of course, only saw the repeats)
I popped the BS die cut on the top and then tucked the centre portion into the frame, after stamping the sentiment. Lastly,I inked around the edges with Mustard Seed and stuck the mat to the base card.
I know it won't appeal to everyone but that's ok.
Hope you all have a wonderful day and no worries Sandy, I've been called a lot worse than Kate before and will probably be called worse in the future lol!!!

The blog candy giveaway number has always been 4000 followers. . . . . . .I always like to aim high hahaha!
DeleteMay think of dropping that figure if I start getting close LOL!
Hi Ang. This is right up my alley. I love overlapping dies. It's become a fad of mine since I saw John Lockwood do it. Really lovely colours.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 50. Here's to 100.
On the gelli plate scene, I waited the promised 10 days for delivery and then e-mailed them yet again. Guess what they're out of stock!!They've given me a £5 voucher to spend with them provided I phone up an order. Apart from the fact I won't be buying anything else from them, the £5 would be swallowed up in my phone call from here in Spain. Anyway they've no idea when the next stock is coming in so I'm back to square one. I didn't know whether to write to Barbara Grey. I know she can't do anything about it but I think the guests should know what goes on. What do you think?
See I'm moaning again and I promised myself not to as my blood pressure is high enough without more stress!
Have a lovely day. I think I'll go for a lie down.
Love Val x
Hi Ang,
ReplyDeleteI do like the way you have arranged your die cuts, but the colours are a bit too strong for my taste, more of a pastel person. Val should get in touch with Barbara Grey she has gelli plates in stock.

ReplyDeleteGood morning Ang, not so good to hear you now have a tummy bug. Your card is lovely, I am not a big fan of yellow, but it goes with your green. I like how you have changed your lace by just inking it. Can't believe you have posted 50 cards already, as you had just started when I found your blog, times flies.
I haven't been doing anything gift wise, and I don't make just for making. On saying that I think I will start putting some little baskets together for Christmas. If going by last year it might be the way to go, especially as we are away to Canada for a couple of weeks in October, and we have a few things going on just after that.
Take care.

Hello Ang, sorry to here your stomach is not so good, nasty old bugs and you do seem to be having a bit of a rough time of it lately, hope it clears up soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat card, wonderful dies, and yellow is my fav colour, take care, kate x
Lovely card-not colours I world normally choose but its good to see different ideas.
ReplyDeleteLuvly card and luv the dies that you have used xx GailT xx
ReplyDeleteGood evening Ang, I love what you have done with all the Dies and the pretty Lace/ribbon .. but not my colours.
ReplyDeleteFor me I would like to do that in Pinks, white and maybe Lilacs. If we all liked the same thing what a boring place this would be. Did you stain your Lace/ribbon with tea??? If I have stark lace that`s what I normally tone it down with. I have tried using Distress inks, found that came out a bit patchy.
You just keep aiming high girl ... 4000 followers .... you will get there. I get the feeling you are a lot younger than me so I might not be around to see it, but you will do it.
Hope you feel a whole lot better tomorrow. When you get one thing you seem to have to have a share of them all.
Hugs

Hi Ang, I'm a bit late today but you really made me laugh. I have a picture in my mind of Harold Steptoe sitting in his bath in their living room with the jar of pickled onions!! Just what I needed and I hope the thought makes you feel a little better as you have certainly been in the wars. Congratulations on 50 posts and for all the entertainment. Now, as for your card...I like the embossing you have done on all the pieces and I must get out the Botanical set as I have this and haven't really used it so it obviously needs playing with. Hope you and Mr Duck have a nice weekend, best wishes Jackie
ReplyDeleteHi Ang,
ReplyDeletegreat card. I do love that you are always thinking outside the box, with your lovely dies. This is another great example of using your dies in a totally different way to most of us. Fab colours too.

Have a wonderful crafty weekend.
