Good morning everyone. A quickie today as I'm down with the lurgy and trying to blow my nose and type at the same time (this is why women can multi task).
A huge welcome to The Pond to Mrs A and Janice. So happy you could join us ladies and hope you have fun on the ride. Everyone here is super friendly so, enjoy.
Jackie D, I saw your comment on our John's post about the mica. I "fix" mine with a waft of cheap hairspray ( the value one at Tesco only costs pence per can) and that seems to do the trick.
Thank you for your comments on my orchids. I love them and when we go on holiday, they go to their Uncle David's to stay. . . . . .Nesta can't cope with the responsibility and worry in case she kills one (plus she usually comes with us for part of our hols). All I do is water them once every 3-4 weeks in Winter and every 1-2 weeks in Summer. I just put them in one of my kitchen sinks and let them soak in warm water for 45 mins and then pull the plug and let them drain before putting them back in their pots (the one thing they hate is over watering) I feed them every couple of months and they seem happy. They all live on my south facing kitchen window sills but when in flower, I bring them into the living room to enjoy.
Now, today's card is one I have made for a colleague, Jo, who is leaving work today. She is a fellow crafter but isn't into frilly ribbon and die cuts. She's more of a grunge/steampunk kinda girl, which I ain't so I decided to go down a inky/embossing route.
Its a 5x7 white card base topped with a purple PMD card layer. I then took another slightly smaller piece of white card and stamped the side with a Fiskars dragonfly/flower stamp in Versamark and heat embossed in white. Same with the "Good Luck".
I then inked the piece with Dusty Concord, Victorian Velvet and Spun Sugar Distress Inks and then ran it through the GC with the Couture Creations Bouquet embossing folder.
This layer was then foam padded to the base and topped with a couple of butterflies and bling.
I hope she likes it. . . . . . mind you, not a lot I can do if she doesn't hahaha!!!
Anyhoo, time to sneeze and wheeze again so I'm offski.
Take care all and be good.

Poor you, keep the tissues handy. Lovely card. Your Orchids are amazing, I tend to overwater mine and they die off so have asked everyone not to give me one as a pressie.

This is a lovely card, it's difficult at times to make something to suit the person, but I'm sure it will be loved.
Cheers

Hi Ang
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty card. The embossing works really well with the stamp and the die cuts. I love butterflies so this ticks all my boxes.
I've also enjoyed your orchid photos - I've recently taken to nurturing these fascinating plants - how satisfying it is to see one come back into flower.
Hope you feel better soon,
Anne O x
