Good morning everyone. Hope you are all well and warm. I don't mind it being nippy if the Sun is shining but I hate dull damp days. . . . . .plays havoc with me feathers lol!!!
Thank you for your lovely comments on my Blog Hop card. The Hop runs until the15th so you still have time to join in and even enter a card. There are loads of lovely prizes to win.
I have started making inroads into my Christmas cards as I don't know about time flying, its more like time going at warp factor 6. . . . . . .if I give her any more, she will definitely blow lol!!! (sorry to any Trekkies out there). I also have Mr D's birthday a week before Christmas too so its all go.
Now, this one I have kept quite CAS as I wanted it to be all about the woven ribbon. I saw something similar at the NEC and decided to put my spin on it.
The bauble is cut from the card front and the aperture is filled with the woven ribbon from behind like so. . . . . . .
I just used double sided tape around the edges to stick the ribbon.
To give it a bit of depth, I padded this out with a cotton wool pad, like so. . . . . . . . . .
I then topped this with another A5 piece of white card to hide the gubbins.
The red bauble frame is foam padded to give even more depth.
Ingredients
White Lime Tree card
Red PMD card
SB Heirloom Ornaments 2010
Docrafts Snowflake ribbon
Red satin ribbon
Red bling
Probably looks more fiddley than it is but I've been playing with some more in the same vein.
Well, I'm off to John's today to meet up with him and Wendy (Spanish Crafter) armed with Thank Crunchie its Friday, even though its Thursday lol!
So, warmest wishes to each and everyone of you too and see you again, soon

Wow Ang! I can't believe you took the time to basket weave ribbons together like that! You are more patient than I am! It was worth it, because this is fantastic and the cotton padding was genius!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun day today and keep warm! hugs :)
Hi Ang, I love this shape and LOVE the woven ribbon. It's really unusual. Well done Mrs D.

Amazing card Ang, lovely ribbon center, and framed with the gorgeous bauble shape, very clever indeed, love it, hugs Kate x
ReplyDeleteHi Ang
ReplyDeleteA really lovely card I love the effect of the ribbon weaving. This also works well if you use light weight iron on Vilene and you can draw on it first to make the shape you are wanting. I discovered this in a patchwork class.

Hi Ang
ReplyDeleteI tried this technique a while ago with ribbon. I made a big square and was so chuffed with myself, I just look at it rather than use it. how stupid am I! Lovely card Ang, lucky person who will receive it this year.

Good morning Ang! I have always been fond of red and white cards and I love the simplicity of your card although I know it was anything but simple!

Evening Ang, a really effective card. Love it. Janice xxx http://createdbyjan.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realised the bauble was woven ribbon until I started reading your post. It looks most effective. hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great Christmas card!! Love the ribbon technique!! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Ang. Just popped in to say "Thank Crunchie it's Friday" made with cashews is very yummy, and yes your right those deluxe nibbles from Lidl are lovely, I buy from that range for my basket as they are lovely and good value. Yes the wine is the dear part of that gift, Asda is the cheapest and they do a good range in the small bottles, but as you said it's a great gift. I have been asked to do another one with a Stilton cheese in the jar in the middle instead of nibbles. Have a good day, really windy here and not nice. Hazel x
ReplyDeleteHi Ang! I am so behind on blog commenting! I love your woven ribbon ornament card. What a great way to use up ribbon (especially since I have so much of it). Will definitely have to try this! Have a great day!
