Good morning Friends, Ducks and countrymen. May you all be happy and well.
Great to know that the lovely Karen has finally started her own blog, hurrah! and can be found here at karenlottycraft showing her super cards and creations. Hope folk can pop and say hello.
Nice to see Mrs B about after computer woes and Elaine back from her travels (thanks for bringing some sunshine back with you)
Now, I did mention a couple of weeks ago that I had made another of my Frame within a Frame (as I have decided to call them lol!!!) gifts for one of the girls at work, who had a baby girl. You may remember I said I was making one with an unusual name.
Well, its more the spelling of the name that's unusual as I would spell the nippers name as ISLA but I guess there's a trend to be different lol!!! Perhaps I should become Mrs Ducque but knowing my luck (or lucque) it means something rude in French lol!!!
I stamped and coloured Tatty and his balloon again and decoupaged them on top of the original stamping (now you can see why I don't do colouring lol!!!)
Ingredients
Pink 8x8 deep box frame (from my old place of employ)
White card
Pink PMD card
SB Captivating Squares
SB Bitty Blossoms
Foliage from various SB Dies
X Cut Alphabet Die
Cheery Lynn Sweet Christine Die
Tonic flower punch
Tatty Teddy stamp, coloured with Royal and Langnickel water colour pencils
Card-io stamps from a mixture of sets
Memento Dew Drop and Distress Inks
Bling
As usual, I foam padded the mini frame so that a photo of little Iylah can be slotted in and I always include a piece of card (under the backboard) that is the size of the photo required to fit, to save people faffing with trying to measure it.
I didn't want to make it too babyish so that it can grow with her.
Still enjoying my time off. Nesta is away with her sister in Eastbourne for a few days so I've not been tempted to skive off from Spring cleaning by the promise of a nice lunch or trip to a garden centre. Mind you, at this rate I won't want to go back to work but I will need to exercise as with not doing all the running around and heavy physical stuff I was used to, the waistband on the jeans is a smidgen tighter lol!!!
Anyhoo, must scoot and make Mr D some dins (yes, I've scheduled) so until next time, be good and let's be careful out there.

Another very pretty frame within a frame. Yes I agree I would have spelt her name Isla. At least you are getting some good weather while your are off??? Helps when you are spring cleaning as when the sun shines it shows up all those cobwebs and the state of the windows - well it does in this house!!! Have fun Hazel x
ReplyDeleteMorning Ang, another lovely box frame, very pretty for a little girl, I have never tried to Decopage, but I do love the effect and will have a little practise when time allows, my granddaughter Otis is having a baby shower at the week end and I have been busy making a nappy wreath and wall decals etc, have enjoyed doing it, as it is my first great grandchild, but really need to get back into my craft room to make cards!!! hugs to all, Linda.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Ang,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful, I really love the fact that you make your beautiful frames to be used for some years to come. Babies grow up so quickly and yes the baby things get relegated to the back of the cupboard.
Glad you are enjoying your time off and the Sun is shining for you. It's great to have it showing it's face but Boy! Oh! Boy! it fairly shows up the dust.
Off to deal with the dust here at the Ranch....!!
Might manage a wee paddle in the pond later .... do you still have the heating on??
Have a great day. Oooo!! hearing there is rain coming later in the day, I better get going.
Hugs

Another lovely "Frame within a Frame" Ang - great name for it by the way. I don't think parents think about their kids when they give them strange names, or names with odd spelling! Hugs Christine x
ReplyDeleteThank you Mrs D for mentioning my new blog Although I've felt nervous at not doing it right, your instructions made it a lot easier AND now I'm excited Need to work out how to put links to other people's blogs like you have for me Your frame is lovely and what an unusual spelling! Your colouring is great the frame will definitely grow with her and (not that she needs to" can replace Teddy with a different image like the latest boy band she'll love when older Thanks again for help I am so grateful
ReplyDeleteMorning Ang, Gorgeous creation as usual, very unusual name spelling as I would pronounce it as ILA but there you go Mrs Bucket (sorry Mrs Bouquet!) has something to answer for lol!
ReplyDeleteYesterday went well, very fitting for a lovely lady and I toasted her with a bottle of Presecco o (or whatever its called lol!) when we went for a birthday meal in the evening! needless to say I am sitting here at work, yes naughty me, just wanting to go back to sleep lol!
Hope you have a rest from the housework, mine needs doing all over again, never ending!!!
Have a great day,
Love & hugs

Good morning Ang, it's lovely and sunny here again today and the garden I have inherited is coming alive, daffs and crocus and hyacinths popping up everywhere plus some primulas. I would have joined the throngs at the weekend mowing their lawns but as my mower is still in its box at the back of the shed it will have to stay there until I feel like pulling everything out to get at it! Just love what you have done in this frame, so pretty. Don't overdo it now, though shouldn't Mr D get the dinner if you are doing the spring cleaning??! love from Jackie xx
ReplyDeleteHi Ang, this is so gorgeous, great idea and I quite like the name too, xxxx
ReplyDeleteAnother stunning frame Ang. The name is a bit unusual, I think I may prefer Isla but there you go! There is nothing wrong with your colouring, it just perfect! Your roses are so beautiful as always. Michelle x
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea, this should adapt with the girl and she can change the picture.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many strange spellings around now. Makes it difficult when I take a telephone booking, having to check every name.
Cheers

Hi Ang - this is gorgeous and what a good idea not to make it too babyish as you say it will grow with her and also a good idea to leave the card size for the photo - your colouring looks absolutely fine to me so don't be so hard on yourself I would be more than happy if I had made this creation xx have a good weekend xx GailT xx
ReplyDeleteHi Ang,
ReplyDeletewhat a really great creation, and a really fab way to celebrate a new edition to any family.

Hi Ang, beautiful make, will be a treasured keepsake for the litle girl. Interesting spelling for her name.
ReplyDeleteJust been hearing on the Scottish new tonight about the new names parents are naming their children, one was Sparticus, can you believe it. I just keep thinking about the scene when the slaves all sood up shouting I'm Sparticus, oh the child is in for some amount of hassle when he gets to school.
Keep well and don't get bogged down with the Spring clean, hugs Kate x
