Tick Tock. . . . . . . . . .

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all ok?

How about taking one of these and turning it into one of these. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Bet you were a bit puzzled when a photo of a naff clock appearing on your reading list thumbnail lol!!! (Mind you, you may think the decorated version looks naff too???)

Now, you may want to get a beverage and biscuits as this is a long, but hopefully, informative post . . . . .  sorry!!!

I made this and another one for our next door neighbours kids. They are moving house soon, only about 100m down the road thankfully as they are a lovely family (one of the normal ones in our road lol!!!) and I thought it would be something different as a gift for the kids new bedrooms as Mum and Dad get the bottle of fizz but, usually, the kids get overlooked (in my experience).

Its a clock from Poundworld (don't ask how much it cost, its not big and its not clever!!!) and I have painted the outer casing with 2 coats of acrylic paint, which dries very quickly.
I am assured by Lockers The Craft Guru, that gilding polish will also work beautifully but I didn't have any pink.
Its fairly easy to take apart as the inner bit sits in a ridge on the outer frame so you just need to carefully pull the outer frame away slightly to release it. I say carefully, as there is glass involved.
This snap is of the clock without its frame.

Ingredients
Cheap clock
Cream and various coloured card
Flower dies and punches
Foliage dies
Number dies (freebie with a magazine)
X Cut Alphabet die
Funky foam (for letters and numerals to raise them up a bit)
Card-io stamps (for the butterflies and dragonflies)
Bling butterfly (from a pack as a gift from Wendy (Spanish Crafter))
Pearlage and teeny bling

I also painted the hands in purple acrylic paint and the second hand in pink. These just pull off the mechanism. You need to make sure, with the flowers and letters, that there is enough clearance for the hands to move or they will trap. you can bend the hands up slightly if you need to.
None of my extra large circle dies were big enough to fill the aperture so I bought a maths set from the pound shop too and used the pair of compasses to draw the circle and cut it out carefully by hand.

Lilia is 10 this year so hopefully, its a unique gift that she will like. You could obviously make them for adults without the personalisation.
Next time, I will show her brother Luca's clock (you may remember the personalised gift wrap I made when he was born last year (or click here for a reminder).

Thank you for staying with me this far, hopefully without nodding off, dribbling or too many comfort breaks lol!!!
Apologies for not doing blog visiting this past few days but sadly, a dear friend of ours passed away this week and although he had just recently reached the magnificent age of 90, it was still a shock. He was what I call one of life's good guys, a real gent with a twinkle in his eye and always a kind word.
So, head has been elsewhere but I will get round to everyone's blogs today and tomorrow, I promise.

Just to round off, a couple of snaps of my beautiful bargain bin hibiscus that is still blooming its socks off and has done since last September. There was 5 huge flowers on it with another 5 about to pop open. All I have done is water it, no feeding and its been a bobby dazzler. Not bad for £2 eh?

Yes, that is the wisteria in the background June, but mitts off!!!

Now that you have all missed half the day, I shall pootle off.

Have a great weekend, and I promise I will now be on visiting duties.

TTFN

  1. Super duper clock transformation and I love the colours. I have a large 3/4pt coffee in front of me (2nd one of the day) so have made it right to the end. Mind you I need the loo now!!

  2. Hello Ang,
I think I prefer the original clock ha ha.
I've read all the instructions very carefully as I am going to do this for my 2 granddaughters, but have - at my great age - forgotten all I've read and what I intend doing with them when they are finished !!!!
The youngest (10) will adore the girly one, but the older (nearly 14) will have to be done a little less girly!!!
I am now going for a walk outside, I'm up to 7 houses away and back so I should be ready for the Half Marathon in September!
I hope you are feeling well at the moment.
    love Maureen xx

  6. Wow Ang, this is fabulous what a great idea, and one I think I might copy for my granddaughters, but not sure that it will turn out quite like yours.
Not only are you very artistic but you obviously have green fingers as both your Wisteria and Hibiscus are beautiful.
    Hope you are keeping well.

  12. Hi Ang

I was surprised to say the least when confronted with a plain clock! LOL, but what a stunning piece of work when I saw said clock beneath the original one. You are a very clever lady. Lilia will love it

I have to say that you are a 'tantalising temptress', photographing the beautiful hibiscus but showing a wee bit of the wisteria ;) you definitely have green fingers

So sorry to hear about the passing of your good friend. It always is a shock no matter what age

    Take care

  13. Well you've done it again Ang. What a wonderfully clever idea and basically all it needed was your time. Beautiful flower nature really does work wonders. Have a good week. Selfishly I don't want it too hot and lots of rain at night as the garden is being done this week and rain will save me having to water the lawn once it is laid!! Love from Jackie xx

  16. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, love it. Got me thinking about doing similar on a Football Theme for our Thomas.
Sorry to hear about your friend, he had a good long life which was good.
Love, your beautiful plant a great bargain and well nurtured by your Green Fingers.
    Have a good day

  17. Wow Ang, completely blown away by this project! At first glance I thought it was embroidered, had to zoom in to the die cut extravaganza! Dang your wrist must have been sore after all the machine cranking for this one! Totally worth it, this is pure magic with a face and hands! lol. Love your hibiscus too. I have decorated with Morning Glories. Come to find out this year, it's been categorized as a narcotic and you can't purchase them anymore! Some dumbass kids figured out if you eat the seeds, you can get high! GET A HOBBY!!! I was so disappointed, I've yet to figure out what flowers I will decorate my new patio with now. So many of the popular plants are toxic to either the dogs or the squirrels, can't be having that now, can I!! Have a great day my friend, it's a long weekend for us and we are off to Niagara Falls!! hugs :)

Love all the super and gorgeous work you have done to create this work of art.
Now everyone will be buying a clock from that store.

  20. Great idea Ang. I bet a certain shop will be running out of clocks!! I'm having a quick whizz round the blogs before we go to our neighbour's funeral. ( By the way, the cows were moved to another field so we have had no further visits ... lol!) Take care and keep well. Christine xx
