Good morning one and all. Hope that this finds you well.
Been busy here at The Pond again. Samples for John. taking down the Christmas paraphernalia (why doesn't the bloomin tree fit back in its box properly!!!) and the subsequent housework and its tax return time..............Yay!!!
A warm welcome to Tina. Thank you for clicking follow. That brings me to 199 followers so I shall select a nice paddle prize for when we hit the 200.
Now, today is a card going back to John's birdcage shows. This was another "when is a birdcage not a birdcage" card.
Ingredients
Black, blue, pink, red, yellow and green card
JND Birdcage dies
JND Autumn Flowers stamps
JND Festive Silhouettes stamps
Sentiment was on a set of stamps that were a gift from Nursey Harrop
I always like to be different and I just thought the round cage looked like a balloon (just the way my mind works lol!!!)
The basket is made from the other cage, chopped up. I paper pieced the balloon with the different colours.
At the weekend, I had occasion to visit Flash's house. We had a Christmas card put through our door. It was the right address but wrong name (don't know where it had been).
I opened it as I didn't recognise the surname and from what was written inside, I guessed it was them (it was something to do with cats before you think something rude lol!!!).
Soooo, over the road I toddled. As it was about 11am, I assumed everyone would be up but after enduring a doorbell that played "Jingle Bells" Mrs Flash stumbled down the stairs and opened the door in a very dishevelled state. I explained why I was there and she acknowledged that the card was, indeed, for them.
When she reached out to take it, there was nearly an incident with her barely closing dressing gown but thankfully, she managed to grab it before everything spilled out.
Never a dull moment in our street!!!
The freezer is still full of turkey, even after turkey sandwiches, turkey salad, turkey curry, turkey rissoles and turkey trifle. As for the 3 ovens, I have 2 on the cooker and also a halogen oven. Its really handy for doing small things quickly.
Well, better get back to my "to do" list.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

Morning Ang, I think this is a great idea for using dies differently. Love the rainbow balloon. Your interaction with Mrs Flash had me having a right giggle this morning. Mmm, yeah Christmas deccies, it takes us about 2 days to pack everything into their boxes and put them back in the loft, so as the Christmas visitors only left late Saturday, we still have loads to do. Good luck with your list, mine does not seem to be getting much shorter, the day job gets in the way. Take care all. Bx
ReplyDeleteMorning Ang, I do so love the way you think out side the box when looking at dies and stamps and this is no exception, absolutely beautiful love it.
ReplyDeleteThe decs. all came down and we managed to get hold of one of those very long white plastic boxes so the tree, which comes in 2 parts, fitted in beautifully as well as lots of decorations, well worth the £20 we paid for the box and it still went through the loft hatch.
I am off to my craft group this morning, 1st one this year, I run a weekly group which is brilliant for all of us.
Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx
Morning Ang,
ReplyDeleteGreat card, clever use of dies.

A beautiful make Ang.
ReplyDeleteAnd, once again, you made me laugh with your tales of Flash. xxx
What a great way of using the birdcage die, Ang.
ReplyDeleteOur decorations always come down New Year's Day. Why is it that about a week later, after everything has been safely stowed away, we find a decoration still on show? This year it was on the lamp right next to where I sit!

Great hot air balloon/birdcage Mrs D. You have a lot of patience to paper piece all those coloured bits. We were out for Christmas lunch (to Sue and Maurice) so for the first time in memory I din't have to cook. On the down side - no turkey for a turkey sandwich which I do enjoy. Maybe I'll come and raid your freezer.Oh boy, Mrs Flash really did nearly flash eh? Not a pretty sight I gather. Like you I have a double oven and a halogen but, in a case of one-up-man-ship, I have a fourth oven above my woodburner in the kitchen. Which was a god send because the small oven blew up on New Years Eve. Flash! Bang! Wallop! We were having friends over a meal on New Years Day and it was too late to rearrange the menu, so the cooking was bit of a nightmare since everything needed a different temperature. But it all came good in the end. Hope to see you before too long. Christine x
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs D,Lovely idea for the card,I like the way your mind works.Mrs Flash sounds an interesting character, not sure it is a sight for daylight hours though !! At least you and the girls won't go hungry in the foreseeable future and Mr D might get a look in as well..I also have a halogen oven which I use more or less on a daily basis and I have a second one with a rotisserie function which I love, just don't have the people to feed any more boo hoo.Take care and stay healthy Lots of Love Barbara D xxx
ReplyDeleteGood morning Ang and a happy new year to you and Mr D if I haven't already said so. I love how you have used the die and made something unique. I'd like to follow your card and be up up and away but all I'm doing this week is the train down to see mum lovely though that is. However we have sunshine at the moment so I shoukdn't complain. I got all the decs down on Saturday AND braved the loft ladder and put everything away. Then I had to do dusting and vacuuming but it didn't take too long. Enjoy looking out turkey recipes love from Jackie xx
ReplyDeleteHi Ang this is a stunning card. I just love the way you can see how to use differently and so effectively. Your street sounds amazing. Our house is all back to normal. We just need a trip to the tip to get rid of all the things we have sorted out. Enjoy the rest of the week. Take care. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteA brilliant card Ang. A very clever idea. Didn’t put many decorations out as only me. All away now. Enjoy your week. I also have the tax to do. That will keep me busy.
ReplyDeleteHi Ang,
ReplyDeletewhat a very wonderful card and your clever idea the Birdcage -Balloon is.
You sure do make good use of John's Dies.
Love the wonderful colours also.
Sorry not been around much lately what with Tony not well and my kitchen and Heating being done it's been a mad time for me as Tony wasn't well enough to help me pack up and unpack the kitchen stuff.
Still have most of my craft room in boxes waiting for Heating to be done now.
I wish they would get a move on so I can get back to normal ( Wat's normal any way. LOL )
They wanted to do the heating before Christmas and took one look at my craft room and said I think we will do yours in the New Year.
They are going to be surprised when they see it now.
Any way it gave me chance to have a mighty clear out but lots of work too.
Lots of crafty love and hugs. Jenny L.
Totally ingenious Ang, brilliant design and colours ,clever you, Kate x x
ReplyDeleteSo clever I would never have guessed it was made using John’s bird cage die
ReplyDeleteHello Ang,
ReplyDeleteGreat use of the die and the stamp at the bottom finishes it nicely.
Nobody like an oven boaster, I only have one but I do have a halogen, an air fryer, an electric steamer and a George ha ha. Since he retired I rarely have to cook - lovely.
Mrs. Flash would be a sight for sore eyes, or you'd have sore eyes after the sight - I'll leave you to decide which.
Take it easy during the coming year and look after yourself.
love Maureen xxx
Hi Ang. You’re so clever at thinking out of the box. Wish I could. Have a bit of a craft block at present but at least I’ve die cuts loads of bits from the cards. My thought is to convert to new Xmas cards before the end of January so I don’t have a rush before next Christmas. Will it get done? .... Watch this space.
ReplyDeleteYour street sounds a riot. Good job it takes all sorts to make an interesting world.
Hope the year brings better health for you.
Jan.
