Good afternoon everyone. Hope all is well with you and yours.
An official welcome to The Pond to Norah. Thank you for your lovely comments and for clicking the followers button. I know you have had a lot of sadness recently so thank you for taking time to pop by. Also, a warm welcome to Sandy who has kindly joined our happy band. Thank you also to Sheila and Jackie Trinder for your visits too. Hope you will come for a paddle again soon. The more the merrier!
I want to thank you all for the wonderful and supportive comments you left on my last post. Its heart warming to get such encouragement when you're feeling a bit down and that's why I know how lucky I am to have such fabulous blog chums. You are appreciated, every single one of you!
Now, today's creation is another of the cards I submitted as part of my CEDT application and I thought it just right to show for my DT offering for House of Cards October Challenge. This month, the theme is use a die or punch. I hope that you can all pop along and have a look at what my lovely team mates have come up with and it would be marvellous to see some of you enter. I've seen some of the gorgeous things you do with dies folks, so give it a go!
Sorry its another gold and black number (though it does look more like kraft card on this pic lol!!!) but as you will see from my last post, I swapped that card over from the original one I had planned to show. I promise it will be the last black and gold for a while lol!!!
Its a single piece of soft gold card with an offset fold and The Striplet cut from it 3 times, once at one end and twice at the other (remembering to turn the card over so that the front of the die cut is facing the front on both portions)
Also, if you were thinking that it looks longer than The Striplet, I did extend the pattern so your eyes are not deceiving you lol!!!
There is a piece of black card behind the front page and I cut The Striplet again but in a place where it would form a shadow behind the front gold cut., so essentially, there's a solid black background, a shadowed black background, then see through when the three are lined up together (you can probably see this best on the top picture)

I was really pleased with how this came out and its one of Mr Duck's favourites (bless him, he did get me a beautiful bouquet to cheer me up last week, he does surprise me at times lol!!! There was also a tub of chocolates, but he ate most of them!. . . . . I would have bet on that outcome lol!!!)
As I said, hope you can join us at House of Cards. Would be great to see some familiar names.
Until next time, take care.

Ps. . . . Karenlotty, sorry chuck but Blogger is not letting me add extra pics to this post (I had already scheduled these ones before I said I would pop on pics of how I did John's card). I will pop them on at the same time as I do my next post, so hope that's ok. x
A work of art Ang. It takes me all my time just to use one striplet at a time on my cards. Love the gold and black as it gives it that elegant look. You see Mr Duck does have a heart, he might not give flowers often but when they are really needed. There is always next time Ang. Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteHi Ang,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, very regal & elegant, cannot go wrong with Black & Gold. Ahh so nice of Mr Duck to give you some flowers, shame about the chocolates but hey, he could have been thinking about all those calories so he ate them! Have a good day and I hope you are not too down this week.
Love & Hugs

ReplyDeleteFabulous card Ang, love these dies and super colours....the footprint is a clear stamp set by Kaisercraft called pitter patter.xxx
ReplyDeletevery elegant indeed!
ReplyDeleteHi Ang! Your card is so beautiful! I love the look of black and gold (here in Colorado black and gold are the colors of University of Colorado at Boulder) so it is a popular color here! Your bow is gorgeous too. I keep working on trying to tie a proper bow. Hope you have a great day and enjoy your flowers. I just got a bunch of roses for our Anniversary so I'm enjoying flowers too. (The card I made for World Cardmaking Day was the card I gave to Hubby!) Take care...

Hi Ange,
ReplyDeleteAnother stunning card today love the black and soft gold and especially what you have done with the striplet die...and how great to see it extended!!
Love Sheila xx
This is super pretty, friend! LOVE the gorgeous lattice feel and the elegant color scheme! HUGS! :) Mynn xx
ReplyDeleteA die or punch challenge...hmmmm, who would be great at that?! This is another amazing example of how you rock the die cut world! I have a billion dies and I hardly ever use them, so sad! The gold and the black are amazing, I will have to catch up with your others as well!
ReplyDeleteThat's nice that Mr Duck got you flowers and chocolates, even if he did eat most of them himself. Better for the complexion that way, anyway!
Beautiful card Mrs D I don't own many dies but I do have this Striplet and love it Not tried anything more complicated than a "strip" (I did do an inspired by John bag) So must play Thanks for note re pics
ReplyDeleteHi Ang. Even before i saw your card, having read the title i just knew you'd be using the Striplet. Beautiful card, love the colour and extending the die works great.
ReplyDeleteWhether Mr Duck ate the chos or not it shows what a thought ful husband he is.
Have a great day Ang.
Bye for now Love Val x
Good morning Ang though I seem to be behind time with this one. I'm not surprised you had so many cheery comments, that's what families do!! and hallo to Mr Duck, such thoughtfulness. A really striking card and a lovely colour combination. The striplet certainly extends well. Most of my craft stuff is packed away now but I might get something out and enter the challenge. Bye for now Jackie xx
ReplyDeleteMorning Ang,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you keep coming up with new ways to use the striplet die, this is another fantastic creation. Love it. Very thoughtful of your dear hubby to buy you flowers.

Don't stop the black and gold, I love them. Your cards are amazing, and you are showing us just how versatile some dies are. Yes, you have used this striplet again, but the cards are all so different.
ReplyDeleteCheers

Hi Ang, i too love black and gold together as i feel it gives it a classy feel. The striplet die is a very useful die that i might have to succumb to before long as i see what you and John have done and you both really inspire me. Have a wonderful day. Janice xx

Good morning Ang,
ReplyDeleteBecause i have crazy eyes as we both know i like both your soft gold and black version and the dark navy and soft pink one that i see as well. The Gold and BLack would make a lovely man's card i think without the bow as not all of them are into lovely bows for some reason. This way is lovely for the plainer type of women and for the ones like me that are daft well i would bling up a few bits, so as you see you have gave me anyway a lot of ideas, thank you flower and thank you for noticing that i have found your blog at last.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
Well you certainly managed to use a die cut or two in this card - it's splendid! super, and stunning!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card and luv the colour combo and fab bow - chocs and flowers are a winning combination and like I said I'm sure yiu will be successful next time xx take care xx GailT xx
