Good morning all you lovely folk. Hope all is well with you and thank you so much for stopping by.
My throat is still not 100% but there's others worse off so shouldn't really grumble.
We did get snow on Thursday but in the afternoon. It rained really heavily then snowed so I'm surprised it settled but about an inch of it did.
Anyhoo, its time for House of Cards February Challenge and this months challenge is . . . . . .
Well, in February, its a good theme lol!! Hope you're going to pop and see what the rest of the DT have done and, even better, I hope you can join in.
Now, I am swearing you all to secrecy as this card is Mr Duck's Valentine card. I usually show him what card I'm putting on but obviously not today.
Hands up, it wasn't the swiftest of cards to make with the ribbon woven padded heart (done in a similar fashion to how I did this card here) and the channel set hand made roses (but I have invested in a 2nd set of SB Bitty Blossoms that were £6.00 new on eBay) but its the only Valentine card I make so it may as well be a good un lol!!!
Ingredients
White card (Lime Tree Crafts)
Red card (PMD)
Red 160gsm card/paper (the Range) for roses
SB Bitty Blossoms
SB Reflective Moment
Sissix Hearts dies
Embossilicious lattice embossing folder
Personal Impressions sentiment stamp
Memento Dew Drop Lady Bug ink
Black archival ink
Docrafts and Mei Flower satin ribbon
Red bling
Sorry for the picture heavy post but I did love making this and quite a bit of love went into it (all together now. . . . . .ahhhhhhh!!!) Also, on the above photo, I did like the shadows on the embossing and bling (move over David Bailey hahaha!!!)
As you may be able to see on this shot, the top layer is one single piece of card, with just the heart cut out. I just embossed the top, then turned it around and embossed a smaller portion at the bottom, leaving a unembossed section that the sentiment tag sits on.
Well, fingers crossed that Mr D likes it in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for coming to visit. It was lovely to see some folk who haven't been by for a while and some new names too on my last post.
Also, I hope those of you who have pulled muscles and bumped heads and had slips in the snow are rested and better.
Would be fabulous if you get time to visit the House of Cards Challenge.
Keep toasty warm!
TTFN

Ps. . . . . . .
My little friend is called "Piggin Love". I have quite a collection of Piggins but only the special ones, like this limited edition, are worthy of my dusting time nowadays so the others are safely packed away for now. . . . . . . . . .this is one of my favourites. x
Hi Ang what a beautiful card I love the heart and the design is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI like how you have woven the ribbon too.

Afternoon Ang, The card is beautiful and I am sure Mr D will love it. It looks as though and awful lot of time and effort has gone into it. I aM pretty new to card-making and there are lots of techniques that I need to learn including the quilted heart. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your entry. Linda. p s, hope you don't mind me asking but will the Anna Griffin die you used on your last post work with the Grand Calibur?
ReplyDeleteGosh Ang what a stunning card, and made with love. Beautiful design and the woven ribbon is wonderful, in fact the whole design is wonderful, your roses are perfect. Mr. Duck will adore it.
ReplyDeleteThake care, hugs Kate x
What a gorgeous card Ang. Lee is going to love this!! Oh my goodness, your Pig brought back so many memories!!! My darling dad had quite a collection but we only ever bought him something that was appropriate to him. The reason for the collection was that he never ever swore, but did say piggin a lot - a very northern expression. David Corbridge, the creator, is from Co Durham, hence the Piggin theme. Dad's very first one was "Piggin Stubborn" - he didn't understand why mum bought that ... lol! They are now all in a box in my brother's loft. None of us want them but her can't bear to just send them to a charity shop. You're gonna have to get the goose grease and brown paper round your throat kid or you'll never get better!! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteWOWSERS Ang! And I thought that I spend a lot of time on one card, this was just oodles of work, but totally worth it! Weaving and glueing and wrapping bitty blossoms, hope you finished at least one bottle of wine while you worked!
ReplyDeleteTop shelf Ang, I just love it!! big hugs :)
Hi Ang, 'Top Shelf' is a term that originated in the bartending industry, it means the best of the best. Up on the top shelf is where the most expensive and rare bottles of alcohol were stored. What does it mean to you?
DeleteStunning card ang.ibet mr duck will be over themoon whwn he recieves it. Such a lot of work has gone into it but its well worth it.

Absolutely STUNNING card which Lee will love and treasure.
ReplyDeleteLots of work and a lot of LOVE put into that creation.
I had a couple of these Pigs but gave them all to the Church Charity Shop along with over 100 Pen Dolphin Bunnies when we moved house I took a total dislike to those little ornaments and the dusting of them.
You got more snow than we did or have had recently. We had a wonderful day here today, sun shone the wind blew enough to get all the washing dried.
Have a good week
Hugs

ReplyDeleteWow Mrs D this is amazing and with such fab techniques - Mr D will absolutely love it - it belongs in a frame after the date!! Feeling better today - was told I would feel worse before I felt better and that was true - felt really rough yesterday and very sore but will keep taking painkillers while I need too and keep using my trusty hot water bottle - done a bit of crafting this tea-time so feel better for that xx GailT xx
ReplyDeleteOMG! Stunning creation Mrs D Such a lot of work I bet you're really glad you managed to get another set of dies Mr D will love it and it's in his favourite colour isn't it? Not that you'll be posting it but does seating the flowers in a channel help protect them if posting?
ReplyDeleteWow this is really beautiful I do hope Mr D appreciates all your hard work / labour of love. I love your little pig so sweet.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried blackcurrant and glycerine pastilles you get them from chemist shops we find they really do help, but you have to just suck them not chew, which is the hard part!
Take care

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - you outdid yourself here - stunning rose wreath, Ang!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Ang. I know how long it takes to weave the ribbon but it is sooo beautiful. No doubt Mr Duck will be able to guess who his valentine is!!!!!!. It has been nearly as cold over here we had 4 days of 15 degrees in mid summer and drizzly rain as well. Sun is shining now but another cold front forecast.
ReplyDeleteBoth DH and I feel better after a good nights sleep but have the painter in today painting ceiling after the repair from water damage thank goodness I can have the doors open but it still smells.
Hugs

ReplyDeleteGood evening Ang,
ReplyDeleteSorry i haven't been in for a while but my CFS has been playing havoc with me that i have been sleeping for Scotland the past fortnight and couldn't even lift a cup, now i know i have bad times but this has been ridiculous in the fact that i was so weak but i'm afraid you all have me back again. Anyway, Mr D's card i think it is incredible and shows the world just how lucky that man is to have such a devoted wife that loves him so much. I think he will be paddling like mad in that duck pond of yours when he sees it as it is amazing.
A wee tit bit to tickle you as per previous conversation on Mr. Adonis(not). Kirsten as you know is a Staff Nurse at the Infirmary and one of her colleagues who is an Irish lass who was built in with the bricks was coming to the end of her 4th straight on(12hours 30mins shifts) and went into see this new patient who had been admitted to introduce herself as his NURSE not as his BITCH like she did, which with a bright red coupen she about turned after correcting herself and walked out. I think maybe she was a tad tired somehow, don't you.
Now that i have given you a wee giggle i will leave you and thank you for the beautiful card, i am certain he will love it the lucky man or should that be Drake???
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
Hi Ang
ReplyDeleteWow! Stunning card. I love it! I think it would make a beautiful wedding card too! I'm particularly tuned into wedding cards at the moment as I have three to do over the next few months. I may just take your card as inspiration, if I may?
Hope you're feeling better soon - these things just seem to hang around at the moment.
Best wishes, Anne O
Your Valentine is gorgeous - an absolutely perfect Valentine. I love your Miss Piggy! I have to admit I do love pigs (especially baby ones)! I suspect I might be a pig!!!

Hope all is good with you Ang.,

Hello Mrs Duck! Just been looking at all your cards that I have missed while I was away and as always they are stunning and of course all your posts had me in stitches. I love the way you put the roses in the channel, a previous one you made was amazing too. I am sure Mr Duck is going to love it! Glad your throat is getting better. On the plane coming back from Cape Town there was a couple sitting behind us and they sneezed and coughed all night and I just knew I would catch their bugs and of course I did but thankfully I am now over it. Michelle x
