Good morning everyone. Hope that you are all well and happy in your hearts. I have had a happier weekend, watching men drive fast cars in Italy (the men and fast cars were in Italy rather than me sadly, lol !!!). Its been a bit of an escape and I've loved it.
Now, today there is a twofer as they are both cards I made at the request of friends and were both card styles I don't normally do. As Jackie would say, crafting without a safety net.
The first card was for a friend to give another friend who loves travel (and I mean seriously loves travel) and is currently spending his birthday in South Africa. I volunteered to do a suitcase card and then thought I had bitten off more than I could chew as I had never done anything like it before.
I made it using the faux leather technique from Sue Wilson's blog to try and get a mock croc look about it (not too sure I succeeded but I will be a bit more clued up next time).
I had bought some Docrafts stickers in a sale and I thought that they were like the ones folks used to stick on their cases years ago so on they went, front and back.
Tied the labels on with paper twine and there you go.
Sorry this got snapped in my kitchen as I was about to head out of the door with it.
I received an email from the recipient who is loving his holiday and thankfully, loved his card . . . . . phew!!!
This next card was for another friend who wanted a cutesy card for her young niece, but no fairies. That was a relief as I haven't got anything fairy on stamps CDs or paper. I only have a couple of craft CDs, one of which is Docrafts Forever Friends Black and Gold. I have the papers for this set too and they are lovely. so much so, I don't like to use them but at least I can reprint from the CD if need be.
I composed the card on the Digital Designer, printed it onto Polaroid gloss photo card, stuck it onto a folded piece of cardstock, then cut around all layers so it was shaped front and back (if that makes any sense). It doesn't show up too well as I had already bagged it and was ready to trot out of the front door, when I remembered that I hadn't photographed it. It was then just a quick snap with my phone (there is a pattern forming here lol !!!)
I had some FF ribbon for the bow on the head and the niece sentiment was cut out with a SB blossom die and attached with Nymo thread so it dangles and that's that.
Been asked to one with a rustic elephant by Thursday so that should be interesting lol !!!
That's me for today. Have a good day yourselves and lets be careful out there.

Hi Ang. The suitcase is really novel and the actually case looks like a very aged croc. It's a really good idea, one which I shall remember.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Emma card. I too have that cd. Sadly all the papers that came with it have long gone and somehow reprinting them isn't the same.
Love to see the rustic elephant!

Hi Ang, sorry I'm rather late today but have had a good chuckle which has helped the aches and pains. For a long time I have been going to a get fit dancercise type class on a Monday morning but we lost our teacher at the beginning of the year and it has taken this long to get a new one which has only come about because she was wanting a hall to set up a Fitsteps class so we all ended up doing our regular class and her new class 1 and 3/4 hours!!! but it was great. This new dance thing is devised by Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe and based upon latin and ballroom dances but is totally exhausting and I have muscles unused for months so you can imagine the agony!!
ReplyDeleteYour suitcase is amazing, really clever idea so no wonder it was appreciated. I don't really do cute but the little character is so beautifully made and again a clever idea.
Yesterday's Grand Prix was good wasn't it, I like a few bangs and shunts, so long as no-one gets injured!! and I was pleased for Mark Webber.
Anyway thank you for the chuckles, best wishes Jackie
ReplyDeleteAng, when your comment came through it clicked that I had left a comment on your blog today. Had a quick look as I always do first thing, but had to go out so meant to do it later then Tammy phoned, that was it I forgot.
I just love your case, I could have done with that folder for Derek's box. Emma's card is cute too.
Glad you had a good weekend,
