Good morning everyone. Well, if the forecast was right, we have a very wet day ahead in the UK today. Hopefully, that will mean the deer and the antelope will stay indoors and not make a mess at work lol!!!
I have two new followers so welcome to Trudi (not sure if you may be the nice lady I met at John's demo at Daisy's?) and wilkommen to Dreja. I can't believe its creeping closer to 100 now.Makes me go all goosebumpy!
The arm is still not 100% but improving. I hope I haven't missed commenting on anyone's blog and I apologise for the delay in getting round the blogs but with the comments I have to make for my 2 DTs as well, one handed typing takes its toll hahaha!!!
Had a wonderful afternoon yesterday with Nesta and young Megan at John's demo at Daisy's. Megan bought herself some PVA Pearls and John kindly showed her how to use them. She is only 11 but quite shy and is a fan of John's so she took her box of stash to show him, bless!
Now, on today's card I wanted to just show the elegance of the SB Mary Border Strip so I kept things simple. The SB Border Strip dies are similar to Striplets in that you get 2 dies so you can cut the shape completely or just the aperture, like here. I've had them a while but only had a play recently.
Ingredients
White card
Teal PMD card
SB Mary Border Strip
Stamping Up sentiment (from the Morning Meadow set, a wonderful blog candy from Donna)
Peacock Feathers DI (rubbed onto a piece of white card that's beneath the aperture)
Teal Zeal Memento Dew Drop
Teal bling (thanks John)
There are actually 3 cards that I made with common threads and this is the first so I hope you will pop by to see the others.
I will just finish with a couple of pics of 2 of Mr D's Valentine pressies from moi. . . . . . . .
This is a Jeffy Salt print and for those who can't zoom in, its called "Tall, duck and handsome!"
Mr D wants to hang it above his chair (a job for me when my arm is drill friendly again lol!!!)
And . . . . . . . .
Its a chocolate cake, filled with chocolate buttercream, covered in chocolate ganache, edged with chocolate fingers and topped with crumbled chocolate Flakes.
I know it looks a bit like an optically challenged child aged 2 put it together but I was one armed at the time and to be honest, if its chocolate, Mr D couldn't care less if it resembled a cow pat! In fact, I was allowed a slice 4 fingers wide and he proceeded to demolish the rest within Valentine's Day!
On that greedy note, I shall bid you lovely folk adieu until next time.
Take care and be good.

6.30am Sunday morning! . . . . . . . . . Well, went to bed last night, Mr D sniffing and coughing every 30 seconds. After an hour of this, I got up and went into the spare room but could hear him still in there so then grabbed the duvet and went downstairs.
After 10 minutes, the ticking of our new clock drove me nuts so that got taken into the kitchen. Finally started to drop off then a noise roused me. Didnt know what it was so tried to sleep again. Then noise again. After this happened 3/4 times I realised it was my auto airfreshner doing its pump thing. . . . . . Grrrrr! That joined the clock as I couldn't be bothered to mess with it to switch it off.
3 times I nearly slid off the sofa as the duvet on leather was like a sled on ice!
Then, the final straw, 5.30 am the dishwasher whirring into life and the thud of the tablet as dropped out the dishwasher drawer for the wash (its on a timer for Eco 7).
Its been like something out of a comedy sketch and I dont know whether to laugh or cry!
I'm holding my hands up in surrender now and am just in the chair, wrapped in the duvet watching the sunrise.
And Mr D?. . . . . . . . . Quiet as a bloomin chuch mouse now!!!
Won't work be fun today lol!
Hope you all slept well
x
Hello Ang, love your card with the border die cut, beautiful, classy and elegant, and I am loving teal at the moment, have just finished 3 cards all with teal and white, but different dies. Sorry to hear you had a restless night, hopefully work will not be too busy today. Love Mr D's pressies especially the duck print. Take care and look after your arm today. Bx
ReplyDeleteOh! Ang, your night sounded ... so funny!!! Sorry!!! been there, done all that, and it is FAR from funny.
ReplyDeleteLove your stunning card, have that Die. I have great difficulty getting the blooming thing out of the Die. Tried all the usual remedies it is now relegated to the back of a Die Box.
Wow! love Lees wonderful gift and Mmm!! that cake looks good.
Hope work is not to manic for you.

I have had nights very similar to that. I can't stand any noise or any amount of light either. I have certainly wandered the bedrooms like you when John has been- I'll be kind ans say not well! And also on occasions when I just cannot sleep. What a life!
ReplyDeleteAnyway - your card is lovely. The duck print is fabulous. We had a very cold dry day yesterday and this morning is a very hard frost; so hard it almost looks like snow. A day to stay inside and craft methinks. Hugs Christine x
You do make me smile Ang but I think most of us have had nights like that !!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card and looks very effective.
xxxxx
Ha Ha I do feel for you I know those nights well lol! I too have one of those air fresheners boy they are annoying and over powering with the smell at times. I think you should have kicked Mr D out of bed lol! Sorry Mr D!!! If hes like my hubby sleeps through anything so the clock and air freshener would not have bothered him!
ReplyDeleteLove your picture you go for Mr D, so apt! My sister has some prints of duck with the different meaning to them, so funny.
Hope you have a good day at work and not fall asleep on the shelves, or should I say tiles!!!
Love & Hugs

You've really made me smile today (sorry) but for different reasons I never sleep well (and that's just my doing let alone the husband's snoring) It's not funny at all and isn't it horrible when the smallest of noises are so magnified at night! I love the die and your card is beautiful Mr D's presents are lovely the sentiment on print is such a clever idea and so apt
ReplyDeleteHi Ang. Love the card, Sue's Striplets and other similsr dies make cards like this so easy to make don't they?
ReplyDeleteMr D's picture and cake both look gorgeous. The cake would have vanished just as quickly in our house too!
Sorry that you had such a bad nights sleep, ticking clocks are banned from our bedroom as they drive me mad (had one in a hospital ward once and as it was run by mains electric I couldn't get rid of it! They couldn't work out why I wanted to get out of there so quickly!) I hope you get a quite day at work today. Take care x
Morning Ang, oh poor you, there is nothing worse than trying to get to sleep and being constantly disturbed by irritating noises!!!! My hubby decided to get up at 5am and have a bath ! I did go back to sleep only for my son to have a shower at 7:30am before going to work. I stubbornly stayed in bed until 9am!!!! Love the GAS design of your card today. Hope you have a quiet day at work today. Janice xxx http://createdbyjan.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThat should have been CAS not GAS b........... kindle makes up it's own words x
ReplyDeleteO dear Mrs Duck, what a rotten night. I have some like that, but with the absence of a Mr Drake. I hope you don't get any awkward customers, as they will be harder to deal with, if you feel sleepy today. Love the card!
ReplyDeleteHi Ang, love the card today, simple design but so classy, a good type to make a few of and keep for emergency's, love your gifts to Mr D and the sentiment on the picture is fab. Hope your managing to get through work today, it's no joke when your sleep is disturbed, I am not a great sleeper, just seem to cat nap through the nights, but I am as deaf, as a door post without my aids( lol) so do not hear a thing, it can come in handy being deaf at times. hugs to all, Linda.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, love the picture & the cale looks divine! I moved into the spare room as I have a streaming cold & trying not to cough was a struggle, didn't want to wake Mr Dispenser although my snoring usually does!!
ReplyDeleteMichele
Morning Ang,
ReplyDeleteI was about to say how much I loved that card, that I thought the picture was a great find, then I read further and started laughing. Yes, I have had nights like that, so in my home, the sofa must be good to sleep on, clocks must be quiet (my hubby actually got up during the night in my cousins house and stopped a chiming clock!), and nothing else makes a sound.
Hope for an easy day at work.
Cheers
Janice W
The card is fab, love the simplicity of it, but it is so elegant too. love the pressies you got for Mr D, he is correct who cares what the cake looks like if it tastes good.
ReplyDeleteLynne x
Hi Ang,
ReplyDeleteLove the card, so neat and tidy. Now that's a funny thing to say about a card but that's what I think when I see it!
Oh how I'm with you about the night things. And how is it when we are ill we take ourselves to the spare room, but when it's our husbands they stay in the marital bed and we still have to take ourselves out of the way! George is as deaf as a post, whereas I'm like you and hear the tiniest of noises. His favourite thing is to leave his mobile phone somewhere and then I wake up during the night and hear it beep every now and again because the battery needs charging. So it's a phone hunt at about 3 in the morning to turn it off, then I can't get back to sleep. Him, he's snoring for England!
Hope you have a quite day with the deer and the antelope.
Love the card.

P.s. forgot to say that I love the presents, especially the cake!!!! x
ReplyDeleteJust tried to comment but nothing seems to have been published, this also happens on John's site most times I try to leave a comment!!
ReplyDeleteSorry I cannot remember everything I typed but I liked the card and sympathized with you about your night.
Nancy

Hi Ang what a lovely card fab colour and that cake omg!!! I was drooling over it and I love that picture and sorry but I was chuckling its a bit like that in this house apparently I have started to snore very loudly and Paul is blaming me for learning Ollie how to do it as well LOL huggles Sue xxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteOh dear Ang I can't help but chuckle at your descriptions - it's the way you tell 'em. I know it is rotten when you can't get to sleep so I hope you have had an ok day today. The card is really nice, so bright and fresh. Love the picture you got Mr D and as for the chocolate cake, sounds too scrummy for words. Bye for now Jackie xx
ReplyDeleteAw Ang, poor you, you'll be shattered today, I hope work was manageable for you.
ReplyDeleteYour description of your night vigil is so funny, not for you though I hope you make up for it tonight.
Gorgeous card, lovely the teal shade, the whole design is so elegant, hugs Kate x
Well Ang, I hope you get a better nights sleep, I hate. Nights like that. I was woken this morning at 5 with a bleep, bleep to discover it was the smoke alarm needing a new battery. Then Tammy's car decided it was play time. Love that die you gave used, your card is gorgeous. Like your print and your cake looks yummy!!! Hazel x
ReplyDeleteOh Ang,
ReplyDeleteyou poor thing I do feel for you, and to have to go to work as well.
Love your super card.
The colur is amazing, and that die is fab.
Great a super design as always.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Hi Ang,
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say what a wonderful cake, and I'm feeling like something sweet now, and have nothing in the cupboard as I'm on the dreaded diet.
Oh well yogurt it will have to be. lol.
Good evening Ang
ReplyDeleteWow what a great card and that cake looks yummy so pleased you got a slice!
Well your night did sound funny but I know from experience it is far from that, so I do sincerely hope you get a better night's sleep tonight and Mr D gets better really soon.
Hugs

Morning Ang,
ReplyDeleteSorry you had a bad night but it did give a laugh this morning. I do know how it is when you can't sleep I usually just read.
Beautiful CAS card and I love the teal and white.
Your print is gorgeous and the cake looks yummy.

Good morning Ang,
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful and stunning CAS is a cracker flower, showing off the beautiful design and the stunning colour fantastically. I'm glad that Mr D liked his gift as i have a space already for it if he ever gets fed up with it, it is a stunning watercolour and i hope he realises just how lucky he is. As for the chocolate cake, well chocoholics don't care as long as it is edible and considering the restraints put upon you flower i think that he did rather well. I'm sorry that the shoulder and wing are giving you so much pain and can only hope that you get more power and less pain sooner rather than later as it is coming up to the migrating season again for some ducks. ;)
I would say to show him in the bath but that would just enhance the noise that he was already making. I wonder if the Doc Quack can't sort out his beak to stop him making disgruntled noises all night? Mr McP normally gets a dig in the ribs when he starts because if i am not off to sleep before he comes up, i have absolutely no chance once he is up. I am just amazed that my neighbours haven't complained about the racket that he makes. I am hoping that you have had a better night last night flower. Looking forward to seeing your next WOD and before i forget i loved the box frame with the butterflies in it, it was so pretty and would look lovely up in any girls room even a wee one. Please may i copy the idea a bit for my special wee neice who turns 8 this week, as she has a thing about pretty but also about nature and this would look lovely done in her beloved pinks( typical wee lass).
see you in your pond again soon Ang,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (glenochil)
the card is lovely, the cake looks yummy and the print is funny. There, all "y's"!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Ang, I love when you use the negative die pieces and that aqua is brilliant!! Mr D's art is wonderful, Tall, duck and handsome...hilarious!! Sorry to hear about your horrible nights sleep, but it sure was a funny read, so there's that!! big hugs my friend, hope you get to feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteLuvin the card Mrs D - love the colour and it's simplicity xx the pressy for Mr D is fab xx wow the cake looks like a real choc fest!! did Mr D feel ill after eating all of it in one day? Feeling a lot better thanks but still not 100% - so disappointed how long it is taking but hey ho!! there are a lot of people far worse xx Glad your arm is improving how awful is it when you can't perform to your normal capacity - I hate it!! I could have joined you the other morning as I was watching C&C from 4am to 6am - couldn't sleep, partly cos the OH had just gone away and I was also struggling with my breathing when I laid down so couldn't settle - I could have come and watched the sunrise with you!!! xx GailT xx
ReplyDeleteWell, goodness, Mr. Duck went from being in the cat bird seat to almost being smothered by a pillow! Why is that the female ducks always leave the nest when the male ducks start in with some sort of bodily emission or other? We are just too nice, that's what! I do the same! Why don't I kick his snorting, snoring, sniffling duck bottom out of the comfy bed to sleep elsewhere?!
ReplyDeleteI will admit, however, I have never had such a rough night as you did in proper Lucille Ball fashion! Oh, Ang, you must be so exhausted today. I think it's about 8 p.m. where you are and you are prolly getting ready for bed already. I hope you sleep well tonight!
Before you go, though, I just have to tell you that your long tall birthday card is the picture of class and elegance! I'm in love with it! I also love the tall duck handsome print you got for the noisy duck and that chocolate confection? Well, I hate you for that.
Have a wonder rest of your week! Hugs, Darnell
Hi Ang! You had me drooling over that yummy cake! Mouth is still watering thinking about is as I gave up chocolate for lent. I love this new striplet die - very pretty. Hope you got a nap in later in the day. I recommend ear plugs! We are digging out from a big snow store over the weekend (at least 2 feet at our place). Hope you stay warm and get well soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Donna
Hello Ang, I apologise for not writing on your blog before today, can't think why I missed you, still here now, and you card is really lovely. I am a big fan of lots of designs of cards, and the less is more is one of my favs. The colour you chose us gorgeous. Thank you. X Ros
ReplyDeleteHi Ang. You do make me laugh. brings back memories i can smile about now.
